Some pull rabbits from top hats, some do card tricks, and others use jojoba oil.

Jojoba oil (pronounced ho-ho-ba) is the liquid that comes from the seed of the Simmondsia Chinensis (jojoba) plant, which is a shrub native to southern Arizona, southern California and northwestern Mexico. And to your skin, body and hair – it’s pure magic.

Magic act 1: The Moisturizer

One of jojoba’s main benefits is that it plays the role of sebum (the waxy or oily matter in our skin) when our skin stops doing it on its own. However, it also magically removes the build-up of oil when necessary, keeping your oil levels balanced. This makes jojoba oil the perfect moisturizer. It’s is an emollient — meaning it moisturizes our skin and prevents irritations or scaly and rough patches. It also forms an oily layer on top of the skin, trapping the water our skin so desperately needs to remain hydrated. This works on any part of your body, in a wholly natural and dare we say it- magical – way.

The trick: Apply four to six drops in the morning and at night before bed.

Magic act 2: The makeup remover

Jojoba oil is the perfect makeup remover. Unlike other methods, jojoba contains no chemicals and is, in fact, good for your skin, helping to remove dirt, bacteria and makeup.

The trick: Add three to five drops of jojoba oil to a cotton ball or pad and wipe off makeup.

Magic act 3: The age defier

Jojoba oil is non-comedogenic, meaning it doesn’t clog pores. Usually, oils are known to do just that – but not jojoba. Jojoba oil works as a protector and cleanser, fighting harmful bacteria. The antioxidants present in jojoba oil soothe fine lines, wrinkles and naturally slows down other signs of aging.

The trick: Use one to three drops of jojoba oil and apply it to wrinkled areas, then rub it into your skin in a circular motion until it’s absorbed.

Magic act 4: The hair fixer

The magic oil in jojoba can replenish the moisture and improve the overall texture of your hair. It also helps to treat dry scalp, and dandruff, adding shine and softening your hair. And for those of you who struggle to detangle knots and prevent breakage, simply add some jojoba to your brush or hair, and you’ll be knot-free in no time.

The trick: Add three to five drops to your conditioner or apply one to two drops to damp hair after showering

Magic act 5: The lip protector

Our lips are much more sensitive than the rest of our body, and therefore need twice as much love and care. Jojoba oil contains essential vitamins such as Vitamin B, E and vital minerals such as zinc, copper which are beneficial for soft, beautiful lips.

The trick: Apply one to two drops of jojoba oil to your lips whenever needed.

Unlike most magic shows you may attend, in this case, we strongly encourage you to try this at home.
